Scheveningen

If you are touring the Netherlands in the summertime, one place that is an absolute must on your list is Scheveningen. A seaside resort in the Hague, Scheveningen offers a sandy beach, ferris wheel, a pier and esplanade, and a lighthouse. The beach area is pretty spacious so you won't find yourself hunting forever for that special spot. The pier upstairs features a few places to relax and sit as well as places to order drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). It also boasts amazing views of the sandy beach below, optimal for picture taking. The pier below is a foodie's dream, in that it has a lot of restaurants with a great selection of food. They are especially good in seafood, as with the restaurant I went to last summer, I ordered a fish dish that was absolutely incredible. Overall, Scheveningen is a place to add to your travel list if you do plan to visit the Netherlands in the spring and/or summer.

On a really hot sunny day, take a trip here for some of the best beach relaxation. The beach itself is pretty long so you won't be out of luck finding a spot to settle down.

You will never have a shortage of places to find fresh food here. On the pier and boardwalk there are tons of restaurants to pick from that have menus outside to look at (if you are a seafood lover there is tons to choose from here).

Scheveningen is also a wonderful place to watch the sunset with a friend, family member or loved one. When I was visiting last summer, I was very lucky to catch this amazing sight.
