Must See:
Canals: Much like most cities in the Netherlands, Utrecht also is a city full of small winding canals, and just like most you can take a canal boat tour down the canals. There might not be as many places offering canal tours but that is only because Utrecht is a fairly small city. If you are interested in booking a canal tour, you can check out Stromma Tours and Excursions, and they offer more pedal boats than a big tour boat for a lot of people. If you are not feeling up to a canal or boat ride, feel free to just walk along the canal ways or stop into a cafe and have a bite to eat along the water.

Musea: There are so many musea in and around Utrecht it can be hard to make a selection of the best ones. These are a few of our favourites: "De Speelklok" is one of the merriest musea you can find. This museum shows you every self playing instrument and will share the history of its importance in the Netherlands. Great for kids and adults who love music. "Het Spoorwegmuseum" is the museum for you if you love everything to do with trains. They show you everything from the steam to the electric train and it is filled with attractions for young and old. "Sonnenborgh museum and observatory" is a compact museum everything to to with stargazing, the weather and the solar system. A very interactive display and highly informative. "Kasteel de Haar" is a little outside of Utrecht but worth the visit if you love castles. With its beautiful castle and well kept garden surrounding it, it's no wonder this area hosts the biggest fantasy gathering every year.

Pandhof van de Domkerk: Right below the Dom church there is a little monastic garden filled with flowers and herbs. A lovely idyllic area to sit and enjoy the view of the Dom church.
Dom van Utrecht: Having been built in the year 1254 the old church is still open for visits. The church tower is the highest in the Netherlands with its 112 meter. The climb up the 465 steps of the Dom tower seems hellish but the view is absolutely stunning.
Botanical Garden: An absolute must if you love your flora. This well maintained garden is full of plants and flowers and animals, everything is well labeled and the catering is well organised. Enough to do for the little ones so if you want to make it a family day out, the option is definitely there.
